  • Impromptu Dinner @ Shiro Restaurant - One Wednesday, W had a sudden urge for some fine dining, and I was able to find a table for two nearby. I had actually tried Shiro a few times before and had gone to Shiro’s other restaurant Orris, in West L.A.(on trendy Sawtelle, amongst a row of Japanese eateries) which was quite good serving Franco pan Asian tapas style dishes.

Foie Gras, sautéed with port wine sauce…..

Grilled heirloom tomato with burrata cheese and balsamic vinegar…..

Santa Barbara rock shrimp, butter saffron sauce and farmer market vegetables. By coincidence, we ordered the same dish…..

It was a nice break for a weekday dinner date! So sad it was the last meal of having foie gras because California has now banned restaurants serving anything related to this delicious delicacy. I guess I have to fly over to New York to quench my craving!
