    CHERRIES…YAAY!!!!

    夏天的味道…

    想帶你去沙灘踩過繽紛的浪花…
    想帶你…爬上樹摘櫻桃…
    想帶你…去新發現的Cafe…
    想帶你…去看看我生活的城市…
    想讓我闔上眼…清淨地睡在你的身旁…聽聽你的笑聲…

I almost fell off my chair when I saw these comical images of a ‘pho challenge’ at Pho Garden in San Francisco . They are offering
a FREE BOWL of PHO, only if you can finish it within an hour, or else, it will be a $20 plus bill. Anyone dare to take this challenge?
(The odds are against you if your belly size is smaller than the circumference of the noodle bowl).

Have not blogged for a couple of weeks, and of course there were plenty of foodie adventures. First of all, Pinkberry was promoting
its new flavours of coconut, passion fruit and tropical swirl, offering free yogurt on last Friday. This is only good for a small size order with
any two choices of fruit toppings, still great for a warm summer day/night.

(mango + raspberry) and a (blueberry + mini mochi balls) toppings on coconut yogurt…

One Sunday, we felt like having a light lunch in a relaxing setting, in such a way that I do not want to feel like I’m in busy Los Angeles.
Jin Patisserie is the perfect sugary therapy. Iced Cafe Mocha…

Recently, dinning out in restaurants serving ‘tapas’ style dishes have been quite popular. We stumbled upon the
Craftbar Restaurant last weekend and sampled their simple yet reasonably priced small plates.

Testun Ciuc (Cow & Sheep mix cheese), Apricot Mostarda and Pecans…

Beet, Avocado & Valencia Orange Salad…
    P1040750

Japanese Hamachi, Prosciutto & Aged Balsamic…
    P1040749

    Veal and Ricotta Meatballs
    P1040756

Flatbread with Fontina, Arugula and Speck…

After finishing up all of the above, we were so full and felt like having to take a long walk. And so, for this reason, no dessert.

  • pho bowls are already insanely big as they are. why supersize = p

  • what are the pink balls with the beet avocado salad?

  • @alchemystfury -

It’s a ‘pho challenge’!! I guess they want to make more $$$ by enticing the diners to go for the challenge.

The beets come in all kinds of colours, pink…orange…red…and so sweet as well!

  • OMG, that bowl of pho is HUGEEEEEEE! I want to take on that challenge! =P

  • i’m gonna have pho for breakfast now = p

  • nice pics! Hamachi and prosciutto sounds like a great combo. Oh, I just noticed it was at Craftbar! Tom is awesome, I’m going to stop by the New York location next time I’m there. And that pho is ridiculous, I usually can’t finish a large bowl by myself…

  • holy MF…those are HUGE ASS bowls of pho!!!

Where did you hear about that?

  • Oh wow… the food looks so good. I want to try that prosciutto with the hamachi.

Btw – You should have gone for Pho after the meal.

I can’t even finish a large bowl of pho as it is.

  • Oh, cherries, how I miss thee… This summer in the US, it is all about the stone fruits.  Peaches, nectarines, cherries (if they are still in season), apricots, plums…

In preparation for my visit to LA, I’m going to peruse previous posts and decide where I want to go eat.  No chance that I’ll actually be able to make a decision, though.  Will have to rely on your good judgement.

  • @osmundaregalis -

Haha~~Me too! I’ve never seen such a large bowl before. That bowl looks like an ancient Chinese wash basin!

  • @caihwei -

Oh yes, there’s one in NYC too, and there are lots more fabulous restaurants over there! Bon Appetit!

  • @Wangium -

I heard about this from another foodie person. By the way, are you going to check it out? You may need to bring a few extra frends to help finish that humongous portion! LOL

  • @ElusiveWords -

Well, Mattie, I’d love to give it a try, I usually go for a regular size beef pho plus a few fried spring rolls.

  • @christao408 -

The Summer fruits you mentioned above are in full swing by now, and the weather in LA is getting more stable, dry and sunny everyday in the mid 60F’s to low 80F’s. It’s like BKK “winter” weather I’m pretty sure you’ll love that, right?

  • I am going to bring my co-workers to do that
    We are talking about it

  • @curry69curry -

Yeah, it’s part of a family of restaurants called Craft, started by Tom Colicchio in NYC. He is one of the coolest and genuine person I’ve ever met. Always hooks me up with free food =D

  • 有愛的世界, 一切都變得美好的~ ^^

  • @uyyt -

Thank you Alice, that’s a good one!

  • @caihwei -

Free food! I’d love to have some too! LOL

  • Love the kids sharing the big bowl of Pho…….

  • wow those pics are good; you eat so well.

i dont know why people can’t finish a normal sized bowl of pho! i’m not a huge person and i can eat a bowl easily :D i love that they had that big bowl promotion.

  • Between your and Christao’s posts, I’m seriously hungry now!! Can’t wait for my trip to SF in a few weeks. Perhaps you can recommend some good restaurants…

  • i’m planning to take the pho challenge but i don’t know when yet. it’s just a matter of time.

  • @agmhkg -

I may need some help on that ‘pho challenge’ too!

  • @stepaside_loser -

I can usually finish a regular size bowl of pho, but sometimes,I noticed they put in less pho even though the bowl size is a regular one. The small plates food are not filling since we are sharing those, but the cheese plates will definitely make you full!

  • @brooklyn2028 -

Oh that’ll be a fun trip to SF, but bring an outer coat for the windy city if you plan to walk around town. But inland areas such as Napa and Sonoma will be warmer. I’ll send you a few notable eateries for sure. Bon Voyage!

  • @JonasApproved -

Haha~I’m not surprised you’ll be doing that, since you love to eat! Bring some extra help to finish the soup too!

  • I’m craving for pho now…but that’s a crazy insane amount!

  • @JL789 -

Haha~ that’s why the restaurant has this crazy game for the customers!

  • Thank you very much for making me hungry after watching all those very nice pictures of food ;) .

  • @kachino -

Thank you and you’re very welcome for stopping by!
