Snorkeling near our bungalow – we spent a couple of hours each day exploring the coral reefs nearby, it was amazing to see so many different types of marine life. I was shocked to spot a shark just yards away while snorkeling, it was only a small one (5 foot long) and it appears to be hunting for smaller victims. (see the following video).While I was floating around, I took this photo for a clear view of our bungalow…..

Ladder access to/from the ocean…..

A video of our little neighbors living beneath the bungalow. I was so glad to see all these marine fishes, some of these I have kept as aquarium pets before. Also, the turtle and the large schools of tiny fish at the end of this video were filmed in another location, at a deeper lagoon near the resort pier. Please pardon the amateurish video with the half looped background music…..

Amazing fun, with the ocean right outside your room. I am adding this place to my bucket list, hehe. Sounds like fun.
Wow, the video is beautiful almost like swimming in an huge aquarium. I snorkeled in New Zealand last year, but the fish is not as colorful, and the playing around with the turtle is just. out of this world fun.
Very nice. I am pretty envious you know.
I think you did a great job with the video. It was amazing seeing all of the tiny fish near the end of it. That first picture is really neat, as well! It must have been really grand to see that rainbow.
wow isn’t it cool ,swimming with the baby Shark…..hm..don’t pee near him…..
@stevew918 - It was like a huge aquarium, I want to go back again!! Next time, I want to stay for a month. LOL
@beowulf222 - Thanks, Nick. I’m glad you like the entries. Hey, you’re not that far away, so going there should be much easier.
@making_a_comeback_05 - Thank you, I’m glad the video played out okay. YouTube would only accept a lower resolution format, so it came out not as good as the original. lol.
@agmhkg - Haha~thanks for the advice. It was amazing to encounter such a wide varieties of marine species!
@CurryPuffy - I think it’s a good 6-7 hour flight. Plus, I am so poor, mah.
Stay for a month, you mean a third honeymoon with special?
wow Gary, just wow. I love the pictures and the video. Amazing.
How did I miss this one? It’s beautiful!
AWSOME pics. i would have loved to join you for that snorkeling session.
OH SHARK!!! Really nice photos.
What a gorgeous place to vacation at. I have worked offshore, and have to wonder about those structures over the water when the seas get rough. Cool post though.
@stevew918 - A month’s stay will be a very special one indeed.
@ZSA_MD - Thank you, Zakiah! Amazing place indeed!
@slmret - Yes, this place is truly beautiful and the air is so clean and unpolluted.
@rudyhou - Good idea Rudy, we should plan one in the future!
@oxyGENE_08 - I’m glad the photos come out fine! I tried my best to steady the underwater cam since the water was a bit choppy.
@soltero_alma - Yes, it is indeed a very beautiful spot. The structures are very well built and sturdy. We encountered a monsoon storm with 50 miles/hour wind, and we felt very safe inside, though there were some leakages, no problem!
Helping the Maldives economy by visiting them is a good thing. In return you are getting clean air and appreciation of pristine environment. A lot of xangians don’t get a chance to see such pristine places.
@PPhilip - That’s right! On some nights, I enjoyed staring at the clear starry sky looking for shooting stars!
I missed this entry.
I really enjoyed the video. It was fun and oddly enough, I got a bit emotional too. I don’t know why.
@ElusiveWords - I’m glad you like the video. Maybe it was the background music that moved you?
so awesome.
