Afternoon tea @ The St. Regis - It’s 3pm Friday and we’re sitting at the tea/coffee lounge inside the St. Regis Hotel. The entrance is on 55th Street, once you step inside, it’s a completely different world, away from the hustle and bustle. There’s a harpist that plays in the afternoon, from 3pm to 5 pm, Wednesday to Sunday.
Drinking mango n’ berry tea…..
Now onto the savory sandwiches – (left to right) peppered pastrami with horseradish, cornichons on rye; cured salmon & herbed lemon butter on pumpernickel; roasted chicken with lemon & thyme on sourdough; English cucumber and minted dill cream on brioche; chopped egg and mustard aioli on kalamata…..
Once we finished the sandwiches, the sweets & scones are brought out in a 3-tiered serving tray…..
Fresh berries mini-tart on a sablé base and their signature gâteau de voyage. The gâteau is an extra dark chocolate brownie cake with chocolate glaze and vanilla bean buttercream…..
Fianciers and raspberries on shortbread with a matching jam flavour…..
Warm buttermilk scones with black currant…..
(From left to right) double Devonshire cream, red fruits preserves, lemon curd…..

What a nice way to relax. I haven’t had afternoon tea in ages. When I visited my uncle years ago in HKG, he loved going to the various hotels lobbies for the afternoon tea service.
Now this is style! Totally. Very classy.
@ElusiveWords - Yes, high tea is popular in HKG, while enjoying tea and pastry, we’ll gossip, catch up on current events, do some people watching and other non-productive matters! lol
@ZSA_MD - Oh Zakiah, you have a good sense for taste too!

my partner and i love doing high tea… we should try the st. regis the next time we’re in nyc.
I usually do it at the Plaza cause it is the closest to where I work so I can do it during work hours
. I will try the St. Regis soon!
Everything is quite beautiful! Seems like a lovely atmosphere!!
@kunhuo42 - Good! We’d also like to try tea at the Mandarin Oriental and the Carlyle as well, but not enough time.
@Xx_DeUce_xX - the Plaza will be on our “tea time” list for the next trip!
@making_a_comeback_05 - it is indeed very serene, with harp music playing in the background!
@CurryPuffy - Sounds divine!
