Anniversary treat @ Arroyo Chophouse- W was salivating for some meat n’ potatoes for our 5th year together, so Arroyo Chophouse here we go! This place is the only restaurant in Southern California that serves exclusively USDA Prime Beef, which is the highest grade of beef available. And there are only 3 out of 1,000 graded beef qualify as
USDA Prime. The interior decor of ACH is quite cozy and appears to cater to the business crowd, with a live piano playing in the main dining area. The menu offers different cuts of meat, and accommodates those who are more inclined to seafood as well. As for vegetarians, there are enough dishes in the sides menu to satisfy too, and they come in pretty hefty portions.Sourdough bread – warm and crusty with sweet butter…..
Tomato and onion salad with creamy blue cheese dressing, I like the crispness and lightness of the the greens and the creamy blue cheese dressing…..
Lobster mashed potatoes, a twist on a traditional dish, with a touch of savory lobster meat showing off the saline sweetness of the lobster…..
SautĂ©ed mountain mushrooms, another traditional dish cooked with a vegetable broth, showcasing the juicy and succulent mushrooms…..
Cowboy ribeye, cooked medium rare, this is certainly the most decadent of all cuts, with tons of beefy flavor and fat, cooked perfect together with the crispy char, which is wonderful about the ribeye…..
New York aged for 40 days, cooked medium well, showing off a lovely amount of char, this is a firmer cut, with a very satisfying “crunch” to it, undoubtedly one of my favourite…..
Chocolate soufflĂ©, comes in a nice, warm, soft pillow loaded with chocolate sweetness…..
The final tab was not cheap for a meaty meal but the Arroyo Chophouse is a very fine example of a classic steak house. I know I’ll definitely bring my business associates and friends here when the occasion comes!

Looks like yet another great meal. What’s the crispy things on top of the salad?
i want that lobster mashed potatoes! only time i had one was at Mastro’s.
Passed that place yesterday on the way to the Rose Bowl. Will have to check it out some day. Thanks!
i want that sourdough bread. it looks like it has a nice crispy crunch crust on the outside which compliments the pillow softness of the interior. and that 40-day aged new yorker…, yeah, me like the look of that
@brooklyn2028 - i’m guessing…. deep fried onions?
@rudyhou - That’s right, Rudy. Fried onions! And that bread was very good indeed, together with the sweet butter! I gained a few lbs after eating a couple of loafs!
@CareyGLY - I gotta try next door, Parkway Grill. It’s been around quite a while too!
@ds0905 - I just wish there were more lobster meat in that dish, not just a sprinkle of diced meat.
@brooklyn2028 - Those are strands of crispy fried onion.
Congratulations on 5 years

Congrats on the anniversary, and man that food looks good! Those steaks look so succulent and the lobster mash potatoes look wonderful.
A belated happy anniversary to both you and William. The food pics are great as usual but I what made me smile is just seeing the 2 of you together (in Chris’s blog).
I wonder what the difference is between a ribeye and a cowboy ribeye? The ribeye is my favorite steak.
