DineLA Week – July 17 to July 27 – Maison Akira - It’s time again to dine out, eat as much as you can! DineLA week is here! This time around, so many restaurants are offering their own version of the dineLA menu. Maison Akira has a three course menu, Dinner $45 food only, $65 with wine pairing. We went for the food only menu.Amuse bouche, yellow tail sashimi with bits of citrus, market fresh tomato & cucumber…..

Maryland soft shell crab tempura with wasabi potato mousseline, and grilled Japanese eggplant…..

Maple leaf duck breast Rôti in a Calvados sauce, with Shiitake potato galette and apple compote…..

Sautéed Mediterranean ‘Loup de Mer’ in a white truffle vinaigrette with roasted Brussel sprouts…..

Bing cherry compote with vanilla bean ice cream and roasted almond…..

The meal was quite satisfying as my fish plate was quite big. We had the same appetizer, the other two choices were smoke salmon or tomato gazpacho. The other three choices for the entrées were: grilled Angus beef, miso marinated Chilean sea bass or ‘Kobe’ New York steak in Carbernet Sauvignon sauce. I wish we could try each course from the menu, or come again a few days later, but that would be a very expensive option!

The Raymond Restaurant- has a three course menu, Dinner $45 food only.“Vesper” – martini cocktail made with Vodka, Gin and Lillet Blanc…..

Liquid strawberry shortcake…..

The three course dinner was delicious and priced reasonably. The meat courses were perfectly cooked! Note to self: try this place again on the next dineLA event!
(Many hugs and kisses to W for taking these yummy photos at The Raymond!)

Looks amazing. How do you find out about these places?
Man…I can never go to western restaurants when I am in LA now…
Always cram all kinds of Asian restaurant with our limited number of meals. That one does look good though.
@happyobligations - They’re delicious!
@Devilzgaysianboi - These restaurants were on the DineLA website. And then I checked out the individual menus.
@Wangium - Oh, no problem, there are quite a few places that serve delicious California cuisine and won’t take up a lot of wait time. When you’re visiting LA, I can serve you a few recommendations!
i like the choices at The Raymond better. i miss golden beets. can’t remember when it was the last time i had some.
@rudyhou - These are available at farmer’s markets, very sweet and nutritious! I wish I can easily get it at the regular grocery stores.
Both you and W’s food pictures are excellent as usual. I’ve never tried duck breast. I think I need it well done (I know it’s different than chicken). Oddly enough, I don’t mind eating medium rare steak.
@ElusiveWords - Thanks, Matt! I like duck breasts well done too. Partly because I got really sick eating a medium-well duck breast, suffered for three days. I’d never forget that!
