Taipei…..more and more eats…..It seems like this is a never ending saga of easily finding a good meal during anytime of the day in this food city. If you love trying the delicious local cuisine and not breaking your wallet at the same time, the following places are totally worth it…..Din Tai Fung – I stole this page from W’s travel log, he did this cut ‘n paste job which I found interesting…..

Din Tai Fung @ Taipei 101 – around noon, there’s a long wait already…..

Their menu cover stating “One Michelin Star”…..

Beef tendon noodle soup (medium spicy)…..

Black truffle siao long baos…..

They deliver a freshly made (regular pork) because I found one with a strand of pubic hair stuck to it, which I sent back…..

The kitchen is located deep inside the restaurant, quite different from the majority of DTF’s….

The National Palace Museum – no cameras allowed inside, but we can take photos inside their restaurant…..

Ordered traditional Chinese tea…..

Condiments – peanuts, tofu strands and sea cucumber…..

The menu even offers Cantonese “Har-Gao”…..

Beef noodle soup, which is pretty tasty, just a little bit spicy…..

Next stop – the original Din Tai Fung located on Xinyi Road …..

We were seated on the third floor…..

The siao long baos are just heavenly, the skin is so soft and tender, yet the inside is so juicy…..

Kitchen is located near the entrance…..

Next stop – Yong Kang Noodle – located just around the corner from Din Tai Fung, this place serves up tasty beef noodle soup…..

There are many different items on their menu…..

Pickled Cabbage for your noodles…..

Beef tendon noodle soup, you may ask for medium spice. The beef just melts in your mouth….

I need some cool drinks after all these “sodium” heavy meals, this kiwi boba drink really helps…..

Of all the above three bowls of beef noodle soup we had tasted, the one at Yong Kang was the best, followed closely by the one at Din Tai Fung. Last but not least, the beef noodle we had at the museum restaurant was very good too, which I’m sure is definitely better or equal to any of the places here in L.A. I just can’t wait for my next trip to sample more bowls of beef noodles in Taipei!

It all looks pretty tasty!
The steam bun. The tea. God. I am so jealous.
Oh my, did you do anything else apart from eating? LOL
@slmret - Yes, Janet, tasty but somewhat greasy!
@manmantong2000 - Felix, I missed all those good food and would like to go visit again soon!
@beowulf222 - Oh, of course Nick. But eating is my main hobby! *nom nom*
@CurryPuffy - And you even look slim with all this eating action going on. LOL *grrrr*
@slmret - Greasy surprises me — or did you omit the greasy ones — bao not usually greasy, nor soups, though they might be. Different than mainland Chinese?
yum, looks like you ate your way through the city (is there any other way to travel?)! my lunch today pales in comparison…
@kunhuo42 - Haha~I need to diet after all these meals!
It’s been raining here and I need my fill of noodle soup and dumplings lol
@oxyGENE_08 - They need to open up a Din Tai Fung in Manila! LOL
@CurryPuffy - They do!!! hehe
What are those seeds in the drink. I have them in my home and use them often. They fluff up and are such a neat addition to the drink. I always bring them from home, know them by sight, but don’t know the name or where they come from.
Great pictures Gary.
din tai fung in taiwan is a must. even a simple egg fried rice there is awesome. sadly, din tai fung here in indonesia has NO pork. horror, right?
@ZSA_MD - Thank you, Zakiah. I think those are seeds from passion fruit, not too sure, or just another type of boba.
@rudyhou - I’d like to visit the one in Jakarta too, even though they don’t have pork in the siao lone baos. Do they substitute with chicken?
@CurryPuffy - yeah, chicken. not really worth trying. believe me.
pube dumplings. i loled. i think im going to din tai fung on sunday. well now idk if ill go LOL
@happyobligations - The DTF here in LA will fix my thirst temporarily for the more yummy ones in Taipei!
@CurryPuffy - HAHAHAHAH sick
Only one pubic hair? hope they made the new order worth your money with a full lock of hair instead, lol.
@alchemystfury - Spotting pubic hair stuck to a dumpling was quite a surprise, especially at this reputable place. LOL
Yes!!! Yong Kong noodles!!!
I still think it’s NOT the best in Taipei though… The best is Tao Yuan street. They don’t even have a sign now! I think I blogged about it awhile ago when I went with my rents and Jack.
@yang1815 - I’d like to try Tao Yuan Street too, have to look for this on my next visit!
All these pictures make me want to visit Taiwan. I haven’t been there since I was a kid. Quick question about the museum, were you able to store the camera in a locker or checked it in? I would love to visit that museum.
@ElusiveWords - Have to check it at the front counter, and they stored all your stuff into a large basket; next time when I go, I’ll only bring a small pocket camera!
Omg. Those pics look amazing. I need to visit!
@JL789 - Thank you, I’m glad you like the photos. Definitely worth a visit!
All those beef noodle soups look heavenly! Also, I like the Din Tai Fung mascot!!
@making_a_comeback_05 - Thanks for the recommend! Beef noodle soup is really delicious, though a little bit hot & spicy!
