A Night in Providence – I got a nice treat from my baby brother at this Michelin ‘two-starred’ restaurant. It’s not easy to locate this place at night. Providence is housed inside a nondescript building along a rather ghetto strip of shops on Melrose Avenue, not everyone would expect such a gem is hidden here. We tried the ‘five course tasting menu with ‘market specials’, which include items such as truffles, tuna, beef and shrimp…..
Interior is quite subdued and blend…..

Bread basket – French rolls, bacon bread, seaweed bread…..

Amuse bouche – Top: Mojito, Bottom: Screwdriver…..

Amuse bouche – Top: Tomato basil consomme with fennel foam, Bottom: Tomato, basil and mozzarella “bubble”…..

Grilled abalone, calamari and chorizo sticks…..

Wild big eye tuna tartare with fresh wasabi, quail egg, assorted herbs and crispy rice crackers (not pictured)…..

Santa Barbara spot prawn (with roe!) roasted in salt with rosemary, lemon, French aoc extra virgin olive oil…..

Black truffle from Australia…..

Sprinkling the black truffle…..

Australian black truffle spaghetti…..

Italian white truffle spaghetti…..

American wagyu style beef, Weiser Farms potatoes, green asparagus, morels, bone marrow bearnaise…..

Octopus, potatoes, arugula and blood sausage…..

Panna cotta with passion fruit sorbet…..

Chocolate ganache, raspberry and sorbet…..

Chocolate marshmallows, sesame macarons, jasmine jelly…..

The ‘five course tasting’ dinner lasted almost three and-a-half hours. I cannot imagine trying the standard ‘nine course’ menu, let alone the ‘fifteen course’ chef’s special; that’ll take the whole day for sure! It was a very sumptuous dining experience. The final bill was about US$200 per person; it was very worth it! I shall ask for another treat at Providence definitely, on my next birthday!

Wow!! Nice! Although the portions look very “miniature”.
wow, was that your birthday treat?? looks like an impressive feast!!
artful and tasty!
@beowulf222 - I wish I could get a few more pieces of shrimp!
@morningmoka - Yeah, that’s it! LOL
@CaKaLusa - Come to think of that, the platings are artful indeed. But for some of the dishes above, I’d say,”Where’s the meat?”
OMG your food porn! =9
love love love this restaurant!! it’s amazing that you finished the course menu. we were stuffed!
Happy Birthday — the presentation is wonderful — I hope the food was as tasty!
@oxyGENE_08 - Thanks, Gene! I’m glad you like it!
@ds0905 - The portions are small, but that’s the tasting menu! I’d like to try the nine-course menu too. Can’t imagine how long that’ll take!
@slmret - Thank you! The dinner was delicious and I’ll go for a second trial in no time!
WOW, amazing meal. Somehow the size and look of the texture for the spaghetti doesn’t look appetizing to me from the pic, although I’m sure it tasted amazing!
That place looks lovely and the food looks so cool. Not going to lie, when I saw ‘Providence’ I thought you meant Providence, RI and I got all excited cause that’s where I’m from =]
Beautiful Meal…..indeed….Beautiful, and that’s the way a fine dining should be…..
wow, that looks like a great meal, although maybe not quite filling enough for me
i don’t think i’ve ever eaten anything that cost that much!
@brooklyn2028 - The spaghetti texture is just soft and not too chewy, mixed with the truffles, it was divine! LOL
Can I just say how much I wish Eric was my baby brother?
@FuhkAwf - Oh yes, that name certainly evoke some east coast flair! This restaurant is famous for its seafood dishes too.
@agmhkg - Thank you, Angel! I’m glad to try this restaurant too! The service was great as well!
@kunhuo42 - Not quite filling? Then go for the nine-course or fifteen-course tasting menu! And what we had that night was quite a shocker when my brother checked on the final bill, and we did not have wine pairing at all, or else, the tab will be much much higher. LOL
@christao408 - Oh great, then I’ll end up gaining a very fashionable brother-in-law, aka Tawn! Very Cool!
Someday, when I visit there, we will have to go out and eat together. I always admire your choices in dining!
@arenadi - Always have the welcome mat here, Michael! If I visit Hawaii, we’ll go out and eat too! I miss having loco-moco and the authentic plate luncheons with beef stew, and all the fresh seafood. LOL
wow that IS a nice treat alright!!!
@yang1815 - Yes Andy, that’s my ‘treat of the year’! LOL
Two star?! No way!
@Roadlesstaken - Judging by the quality of food and service, I’d give it five stars! Location – one star! *LOL*
Gary – you guys are too much… can I be adopted into your family? I should warn you though, I have a birthday each month and will be expecting a meal (any thing from your blog) each month.
@ElusiveWords - Oh sure Mattie, I don’t mind having a Canadian ‘gor-gor’ who knows how to prepare very delicious home-cooked Chinese dishes and soup! LOL
That WAS a marvelous treat Gary. But, I am not too thrilled about the truffles or the black spaghetti. Every thing else looked great.
@ZSA_MD - Truffles do not show too well, but taste very well indeed! *nomz*
