Song of the Day
好.久.不.見
就這樣意外的撞見, 我登時啞口無言…
看著你那熟悉的臉, 回憶一幕幕翻過眼前…
你最後那一句話, 應該只是客套吧…
YAY!! Spring is finally around the corner! And I’m coming out of hibernation. What have I been doing these past couple of months? Not much, just some house cleaning…trying out a couple of new restaurants…finished my tax return…and a few lame chores here and there. That’s it. This entry is a continuation of the last one, trying to finish off my long overdue blog of the Hong Kong (Five-part series) trip.
HONG KONG (part 4) – “Disneyland” – The ‘happiest place on Earth’ opened in 2005, and consists of only four themed areas: Main Street, U.S.A., Fantasyland, Adventureland, and Tomorrowland. When compared to the Disneyland in L.A. (Anaheim), the Hong Kong park is seriously lacking some punch. Not to worry though, by 2014, Hong Kong Disneyland will include a total of seven themed lands with the addition of Grizzly Gulch, Mystic Point and Toy Story Land as an expansion of the park.Everything (well, almost) in this place is about the Mouse…..
Before entering Snow White’s Castle, there’s a roundabout where you can catch the bus for a ride down Main Street…..
Joy riding in ‘Autopia’, with Space Mountain in the backdrop…..
Somebody is obviously unaware of the road ahead…..
A different view of Tomorrowland…..
This place serves pretty okay Chinese cuisine…..
I like the colorful lanterns…..
Set lunch – I found the animal shaped dim-sum very interesting to look at, but the taste is somewhat less than appealing…..
Rabbit (some sort of marshmellow), rat (sweet n’ creamy inside), porcupine (crispy dough with red bean paste), with the rest consisting of gold fishes, squid, etc…..
It was a fun half-day adventure, photo-op with the characters is a must-do…..
Afternoon tea at Intercontinental Hotel, Tsim-Tsa-Tsui – After an active morning, it’s time to relax our tiring soles, the lobby inside the Intercontinental Hotel is just the right place. The fabulous harbour view at close range, while high-teaing…..
The lobby lounge gets crowded quickly, with tables on the right side filled up first…..
The multi-tiered pastry tray, you need a strong arm to move it around…..
Warm scones are very delicious with cream and jelly…..
An assortment of mini-sandwiches quelled my hunger after that light meal at Disneyland…..
Mini pasteries are mostly run-of-the-mill flavors…..
We ordered the regular Afternoon Tea Set, the final tab was around US$60, including service charge. It was a dear meal afterall, but totally worth it, considering the seating is very limited and we grabbed a very good table with a fablous harbour view. I’d love to come back again in my upcoming Hong Kong visits! (My many thank-you’s to dear W for the fantastic photos, you did it again!)

OMG … chinese drivers!
@AppsScraps - HAHAHAHA…. no hands on the wheels too!
Great pics of the tea time. My uncle used to treat me to tea time – it was one of his favorite ways to past time.
Awww Gary, this is such a fun post. I am not sure if I would like the animal Dim Sum either. I am so glad you had such good seats and got an eyefull of the HongKong harbour.
I am so so so glad you finally posted some thing here. I have been coming here and getting disappointed every single time. hee hee hee.
@AppsScraps - No, Brent, should be Chinese and Korean crazy drivers! =p
@ElusiveWords - Sundays used to be ‘high tea’ days for me too!
@ZSA_MD - Thank you for the kind words Zakiah. I hope not to disappoint in the future, will keep up the entries! Meanwhile, I better start to sort out my next batch of photos!
The animal dim sums look very interesting. It’s a shame they didn’t taste as good. Those pastries at the InterCon Hotel are making me hungry!
that all looks so fun
Can’t wait to go there.
@icepearlz - Yes, I know, can’t expect too much from amusement park food. Even the food here at the Disneyland L.A. is mediocre, unless we opt for hamburger and fries. I had a quick dinner at the Singapore Night Safari foodcourt, it was quite good!
@CaKaLusa - Yeah Chris, come visit Hong Kong Disneyland! We have a very fun Ocean Park too!
@oxyGENE_08 - Are you visiting around September? I’ve been there only a few times, never get tired of the place. I couldn’t believe how fast those collectable mugs are gone in a minute!
@CurryPuffy - I am.
I’ll look for one when I get there. haha
hm… in a few years time there will be a new Disney in Shanghai much bigger than the HKG one even with the phase 1 planning…. ! ….. interestingly I prefer the tea at the inter-con than the Peninsula…..
@agmhkg - Oh yes, I read about that too. Yeah, you are right about the scope and size of the new park, I’d surely go explore by then. Also, just to ‘kick around’ this idea, when that new Shanghai park is completed, do you think anybody would dare to pee and do their “business” out in the cold, just like they did at the HK Disneyland?
looks great!
@yang1815 - Thanks Andy! Happy Monday!
@CurryPuffy - woo whoo, you too Gary!
Looking good with Goofy!!
One of these days we’ll be in HKG at the same time and have tea there. Wish the view was clearer for you, though.
@CareyGLY - Aww….they’re cute! Don’t you like Pluto too? Can’t wait to go back and pose with them one more time!
@christao408 - Oh, that’ll be fabulous, high tea in Hong Kong and I can catchup on the latest happenings in the Big Mango from Chris! Overall, the view was good, it was a sunny but hazy afternoon.
Boba in LA? Sounds good… as long as you show me where all the good places are at.
Ooh! I want to check out Hong Kong’s version of Disneyland! It looks pretty new and quite beautiful for your pictures. :]
I actually thought that the hippo from the Jungle Cruise was real. Haha
Your pictures make me miss Hong Kong…
My parents are currently there right now. I wish i could take their place.
@Devilzgaysianboi - Oh, you should visit HK with your parents!
<3<3<3 i might go to hongkong this summer!
it’s going to be super hot, but hopefully it’ll be a wonderful trip.
how was the weather when you were there??
@kerryabag - You’re right! Super hot and humid! When I was there, the weather was chilly and windy. Have fun!
afternoon tea!!! i want… but quite expensive ><
@lcfu - I think so too, and we had the less expensive set already!
Nice to see you, FuFu, I saw you had a nice trip in South America, very fascinating indeed!
@CurryPuffy - yeah now back in Frankfurt… gotta get my thesis done before i start my easter europe tour in july lol
My sister has been dying to visit this place. Great photos!
@mocawong - Thank you! Hong Kong is just like a ‘miniature’ New York!
